Shanghai-style mahjong solitaire in three steps — the same mechanic the genre has used for decades, with a guarantee that a fair, forward solution always exists.

    Find a free tile

    A tile is "free" when nothing covers it from above and at least one side — left or right — is open. Covered or hemmed-in tiles are dimmed until they open up.

  2. Step 02

    Match identical pairs

    Tap two free tiles showing the same glyph — the same numeral, wind, dragon, or flower — to clear them from the board. Score, timer, and move count update live.

  3. Step 03

    Clear the board to win

    Every deal is generated to guarantee a solution — there is no unwinnable board. Stuck? Undo the last match (unlimited, always) or use a hint to reveal a pair.

Common questions.

Is this the same as real Mahjong?
No. Mahjong solitaire (also called Shanghai Solitaire) is a single-player tile-matching puzzle — match pairs of identical free tiles to clear the board. Real Mahjong is a different, competitive four-player game. Midnight Mahjong Solitaire is a mahjong solitaire game — not real Mahjong.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in, no profile, and no cloud sync. Your wins, best times, and streaks are stored locally on your device and are lost only if you uninstall.
Is every board actually solvable?
Yes. Every deal is generated by shuffling backwards from a solved state, which guarantees a forward solution path exists. If you get stuck, Undo (unlimited, for everyone) or Hint (3/day free, unlimited on unlock) will get you moving again.
