Terms of service

Last updated 2026-09-24

These terms govern your use of the Playbreak mobile app and website (the "Service"), provided by TLM Software Design, Inc., a Michigan corporation with offices at 27280 Haggerty Road, Ste C-6, Farmington Hills, MI 48331, USA ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.

Who can use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/UK) to use the app. The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children.

What the Service provides

Playbreak is a game app for iOS and Android offering nine classic games — Backgammon, Checkers, Dominoes, Durak, Sea Battle, Reversi, Gomoku, Four in a Row and Tic-Tac-Toe. Each game can be played against a computer opponent, passed between players on one device, or played with a phone each over a direct Bluetooth connection. The Service shows no advertising and does not offer coin wagering or real-money stakes.

Free games and the one-time unlock

Tic-Tac-Toe, Sea Battle, Four in a Row and Gomoku are free to play without limit. Backgammon, Checkers, Dominoes, Durak and Reversi require a single non-consumable purchase to unlock permanently. Before purchasing, each of those five games offers one full trial match, in any mode, played to the end. The trial is spent once a table is dealt. A trial match against the app or on one phone that is left unfinished, however it is left, is kept so it can be resumed and finished later; no new trial match is dealt. A trial match played over Bluetooth cannot be resumed once it ends, including when a player leaves it.

Nearby Bluetooth play

Nearby is a foreground, short-range connection between participating devices. One device acts as the authoritative host and may approve or reject each guest's request to join, shown with the display name the guest chose in Settings, or a generic default name if they chose none. Radio conditions, operating-system restrictions, Bluetooth availability, device sleep, leaving the app, or any player's departure may end a match. If a connection drops, the match pauses on every device and the player's seat is held for 30 seconds; the match ends if the player does not return in that time or chooses to leave. A player whose app was closed cannot rejoin, and host migration is not provided.

You are responsible for the nearby games you host and the requests you approve into them. Nearby does not require system pairing, but it does require Bluetooth access and a compatible device. On Android 8–11, the operating system also requires location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices even though the app does not use the scan to determine location.

Bot opponents and fair play

Bot difficulty differs by how much a bot remembers and how well it evaluates a position, never by deliberately weak or losing moves. You agree not to use bots, scripts, modified clients, or exploits to manipulate a nearby match, move legality, purchases, or results.

The one-time unlock purchase

The unlock is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase covering all five gated games. Apple App Store or Google Play processes the transaction and controls billing, refunds, and store-account eligibility. RevenueCat verifies and restores the entitlement. Prices may vary by country, currency, tax, and store. You can use Restore Purchases in the app to ask the platform store to restore an eligible purchase. Refund requests are handled under the applicable store's rules.

Intellectual property

The app's code, artwork, audio, interface, and other original content are owned by TLM Software Design, Inc. or its licensors. The nine games are traditional, public-domain folk games and are not claimed as our exclusive property. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app for personal, non-commercial entertainment.

Privacy

Our Privacy policy explains how local matches, nearby Bluetooth play, the unlock purchase, and analytics and crash reporting are handled.

No warranties

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent preservation of saved games or statistics, or compatibility with every device, Bluetooth radio combination, or future operating-system version.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TLM SOFTWARE DESIGN, INC. WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $10. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes and termination

We may update, suspend, or discontinue features and may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date. Continued use after updated terms take effect means you accept them. You may stop using the Service and uninstall the app at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts serving Oakland County, Michigan, except where applicable consumer law requires otherwise.
