Creaky Hinge is operated by TLM Software Design, Inc., a Michigan corporation with offices at 27280 Haggerty Road, Ste C-6, Farmington Hills, MI 48331, USA ("we", "us", "our"). This policy covers the iPhone app and, separately, this website.
Summary
- The app collects no data. It has no server, no account, no analytics, no advertising and no in-app purchases.
- The app has no code that sends information off your phone, and it works offline.
- It does not ask for any permission: not location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
- The only things it remembers are your three settings, and those stay on your phone.
- This website uses Google Analytics to count visits, but only after you accept the cookie banner.
The app
What it stores on your device
Three values are written to the app's standard settings storage
(UserDefaults), so your choices survive a restart:
- Sound on or off.
- Vibration on or off.
- The creak you picked: old door, squeaky gate or cellar door.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. It is removed when you delete the app. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Apple's own backup may include these values as part of the app's data; we have no access to or control over that backup.
What it does not do
- It has no account or sign-in, so we never learn who you are.
- It contains no analytics or crash-reporting service. We do not see how you use the app.
- It shows no ads and uses no advertising identifier.
- It has no in-app purchases and handles no payment details.
- It reads your phone's hinge angle (or your finger's drag) only to move the door and to make the sound and vibration in the moment. Nothing is recorded or kept.
Rate this app and Send feedback
Two rows in the settings menu hand you over to other apps, and only when you tap them. Rate this app opens the app's page on the App Store, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Send feedback opens an email to info@swtlm.com in your mail app, with the app's version and build number in the subject. You can edit or delete the message before sending it. If you send it, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to answer you.
The sounds
The creaks are cut from CC0 (public-domain) recordings and bundled inside the app. The app does not download anything and does not use the microphone.
Children
Because the app collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children either. If you believe we hold information about a child that we should not, write to privacy@swtlm.com and we will delete it.
This website
These pages (apps.swtlm.com/creaky-hinge) are
static and hosted on AWS S3 + CloudFront. The site uses
Google Analytics to count visits: pages viewed, session count and referral source. Analytics
cookies (_ga,
_ga_*) are set only after you accept the cookie
banner. Decline and no analytics script loads and no cookie is set. You can withdraw consent
at any time by clearing this site's local storage in your browser. apps.swtlm.com is one
website: this page and every app page on it share a single analytics property and a single
consent choice, so accepting or declining once applies everywhere on the domain. AWS also
records standard CDN access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) under its default
logging policy. This policy covers Creaky Hinge and its pages, and nothing else: every other
app on apps.swtlm.com has its own policy, because every app handles different data.
Service providers
- Google Analytics (GA4) — this website's visit analytics, cookie-consent gated. Not used by the app.
- Amazon Web Services (S3 + CloudFront) — hosts this website and receives standard CDN access logs. Not used by the app.
- Apple — distributes the app through the App Store under Apple's own terms.
Your rights and choices
Because the app collects nothing about you, there is nothing for us to access, export or delete from it; deleting the app removes its settings from your phone. For the website, you can decline the banner or clear local storage as described above. To raise a privacy concern or exercise a right over anything you emailed us, write to privacy@swtlm.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
We will post material changes here and update the "Last updated" date above. If a future version of the app collects anything, this policy will say so before that version ships.
