Terms of Use
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These terms govern your use of Additiva (“the app”), published by TLM Software Design, Inc. (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two differ, these terms add to it rather than replace it.
What Additiva is, and what it is not
Additiva decodes and classifies food additives from public regulatory data: what an additive is, what it does, what it can be made from, how vegan, vegetarian, halal and kosher diets classify it, and which regulated allergens it may contain.
It is not medical, dietary, legal or religious advice.
- Always verify on the product package. The ingredient list and the manufacturer are the authority on how a particular product was made. A “Depends” answer means the source is not knowable from the label alone.
- Allergies. Allergen tags follow the EU and US lists of major allergens. They do not cover traces or cross-contamination. If you have a food allergy, rely on the package label and your doctor, not on the app.
- Halal and kosher. The app shows the published positions of named authorities and says when they differ. It does not issue a ruling of its own, and permissibility varies by certifier. Your own certifier or religious authority has the final word.
- No health verdicts. The app does not rate any additive or food as safe, unsafe, healthy or unhealthy.
We compile the data carefully from the official sources cited on each card, but sources change and errors are possible. If you find one, please tell us at info@swtlm.com.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Additiva on devices you own or control. You may not copy, redistribute, resell or reverse-engineer the app, or extract its database for reuse, except as far as applicable law or an open-source licence allows. The regulatory data behind the app remains subject to its own licences, which the app lists under Settings → Data sources.
Free version and Premium
Additiva is free to download. The free version includes the complete decoder and shows a banner ad.
Additiva Premium adds label scanning and removes the ads. It is offered as:
- a monthly subscription,
- a yearly subscription, which may start with a free trial, or
- a lifetime purchase, paid once and never renewed.
The price in your currency is shown in the App Store or Google Play before you buy.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown when you subscribed, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your store account is charged within the 24 hours before renewal. If the yearly plan includes a free trial, you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings; cancelling stops the next renewal, and Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
Purchases are processed and billed by Apple or Google under their terms, and refunds are handled by them. You can restore Premium on a new device from the app’s Premium screen, using the same store account.
Scanning reads what the camera can see. On iPhone it reads E-numbers and additive names. On Android it is an assist that spots additives on labels printed in the Latin alphabet. Scanning can miss an additive or misread a word, so check the ingredient list, and search for anything it did not find.
Ads
The free version shows banner ads from Google AdMob after any consent your region requires. See the Privacy Policy for what that involves.
Acceptable use
Use the app lawfully. Do not use it to harm others, to infringe anyone’s rights, or to present its classifications as a certification, a ruling or professional advice.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The app and its data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the data is complete, current or free of errors, or that scanning will find every additive on a label. To the maximum extent permitted by law, TLM Software Design, Inc. is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages, or for any decision about what to buy or eat that you base on the app. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be limited by contract.
Open-source software
Additiva includes open-source software under its own licences, listed in the app under Settings → Open-source licences. Those licences apply to those components.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
